Skin types: differences and care specifics

How to make the skin of the face soft and satiny? How to stay young without resorting to plastic surgery? The secret lies in proper care of the skin of the face and body. And this is possible only if the type of your skin is known exactly and the appropriate means for its care are correctly selected.
Cosmetologists distinguish four main types of skin: dry, oily, normal and combination.
Determine the skin type
To determine your skin type, you will need a regular paper napkin!
The face should be cleaned with the usual cosmetic product and left for 20-25 minutes. After that, take a tissue and wipe the area of the nose, chin and forehead. If oily traces remain on it, then normal and dry skin type is excluded.
The next step in the examination will be to check the area of the cheeks, temples and around the mouth. If there are no traces left on the napkin this time, then your skin type is combination. Spots on the napkin indicate oily skin, which is characterized by abundant sebaceous secretions over the entire surface of the face. Oily skin is prone to the appearance of blackheads, it has an oily sheen and enlarged pores.
If the experiment with the napkin did not give any results at first, and it remained clean, then you have dry or normal skin. It is easy to distinguish between these two types:
-
Normal skin has a smooth surface and a healthy color, it has no roughness and traces of peeling.
-
Dry skin is prone to peeling, cracks and wrinkles. This is especially noticeable in bright sunlight. Excessive sensitivity of such skin can cause extremely unpleasant sensations when exposed to wind, cold and sunlight.
-
Individual care
-
Knowing your skin type, you can easily choose the appropriate care for it. Nature has created a lot of different cosmetics that are ideal for one or another type. Using these gifts in simple daily procedures is more effective than using artificial cosmetics.
Let's consider several types of natural ingredients, the presence of which is most desirable in the daily care of different skin types.
Dry skin
When caring for dry skin, it is important to ensure adequate hydration. For washing, it is recommended to use cream-soap and soft scrubs containing natural oils, which will retain moisture and help prevent the appearance of dryness after cleansing:
-
coconut oil;
-
grape seed oil;
-
orange oil;
-
wheat germ oil.
Chamomile and mint extracts are good for dry skin care. In the heat, people with dry skin are recommended to refresh their face with a moisturizing bridge or spray containing natural ingredients. The most effective for dry skin will be nourishing masks based on gel and fabric. Several times a week, you can apply homemade masks made of egg yolk and honey with the addition of vegetable oil - olive, argan or peach kernel oil.
Oily skin
This type of skin needs thorough cleaning. However, overzealous scrubbing can lead to damage and irritation, which only increases the risk of acne breakouts.
To clean oily skin, it is recommended to use scrubs developed on the basis of clay with a fine abrasive filler that does not injure the skin. Clay will help improve complexion and narrow pores.
The perfect remedy for this type of skin will be killed!
Natural oils that should be preferred when choosing care cosmetics if you have oily skin:
-
eucalyptus - has bactericidal properties;
-
calendula - relieves inflammation and fatigue;
-
jojoba - eliminates acne;
-
Flax is an excellent remedy for acne.
Toners with extracts of chamomile, mint and St. John's wort are most suitable for oily skin. Clay masks, as well as homemade sour-milk masks with the addition of honey, lemon juice, and oatmeal, are perfect for nourishing and moisturizing.
Normal skin
Although normal skin is the least problematic type of all, it also needs care and maintenance. With improper cleansing, insufficient hydration or nutrition, the skin can lose its healthy appearance and become excessively dry or oily.
In order to preserve the health of normal skin for a long time, it is recommended to use universal cleansing scrubs based on a gel with a neutral pH level.
The effect of natural ingredients used in cosmetics for normal skin should be aimed at preserving its natural health:
-
tea tree oil promotes regeneration;
-
melon oil softens and nourishes the skin, removes pigmentation;
-
walnut oil has bactericidal properties;
-
calendula oil promotes regeneration and heals minor injuries;
-
cocoa oil softens the skin, saturates it with vitamins and fatty acids;
-
olive oil has a rejuvenating effect;
-
ylang-ylang oil provides protection against ultraviolet rays and temperature changes;
-
apricot kernel oil has an anti-inflammatory effect.
Cream-based masks are recommended for normal skin. From home cosmetics, fruit and vegetable masks have proven themselves well.
Combination skin
The difficulty in caring for a combination skin type is that, in fact, you have to eliminate the shortcomings of two types of skin at the same time - oily and dry. If we are talking about a combination of oily and normal skin in separate areas, then the task is simplified. Thus, nourishing and moisturizing masks for combination skin should be applied to separate areas. For areas of the face with increased sebum production, good products for the care of oily skin are masks and scrubs made of clay containing citrus oils, as well as extracts of eucalyptus, peppermint, calendula and chamomile. Care for "dry" and "normal" areas is carried out according to the same principle - following the recommendations for owners of dry and normal skin types.
